September 1, 2011

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Was THAT one fast summer or what??  I hope you found the time to get to some of the fun items on your agenda and to really enjoy them fully.  These summer days are so precious.

I will continue to be available for referrals of your families, from children who are tweens through young adults.  Please feel free to refer them to my web page for a good overview of how I work.  I do not accept any third party insurance, which I know is difficult these days.  However, I also see many families who would prefer to develop a relationship work with a recommended out-of-network provider rather than begin the important work of psychotherapy with an unknown provider just because that individual is “in-network.”

Over the next few weeks, I will be offering two workshops on mindfulness.  The first will be a “Taste of Mindfulness” workshop for the Suffolk County Psychological Association on Friday evening, September 16th.   If you are not a member of SCPA, please consider joining what is undoubtedly the friendliest and most active regional professional organization for psychologists in New York State and probably the country.

On Friday, October 14th, I will also be offering a full-day training specifically geared to school-based mental health professionals at the Albert Ellis Institute.  Please spread the word to your colleagues.  Information and a link to registration for the AEI training may be found on my web page at www.drpantaleno.com.

Last year, I began offering a free two-hour mindfulness workshop after school for school staff in any district that could bring together a minimum of twenty-five participants.  These may be teachers, administrators, or PPS support staff.  If you are interested in arranging for one of these, please e-mail me at drpantaleno@drpantaleno.com and I will be happy to work with you.

Finally, enclosed please find a recent article I wrote on the subject of treating Borderline Personality Disorder, one of the most frequently misunderstood mental health diagnoses faced by a number of our young adult population.  I hope that you find it useful, and that some of the resources provided can help you to expand your knowledge of BPD.

If anyone is interested in being placed on an e-mail list for a monthly Friday afternoon mindfulness group practice in my office from 4-5:30, please let me know.

Let’s notice the peace of the present moment and welcome the beauty of the change of seasons.

Best Wishes,

Anthony Pantaleno, Ph.D.
